GLORIOUS RESULTS

What makes a great church? Acts 4 begins where Acts 3 ends. The witness of the church leads in two directions. Persecution begins in earnest. The message is not hindered by suffering or persecution. People hear why the man was healed and respond to Peter’s invitation (3.19-20). Sadly, others have a different response. The religious elite want the gospel stopped (v17). The church does not back down. It appeals to a higher authority in the Sovereign Lord. Unlike prior to the Cross, the church could not be intimidated to deny and walk away from Christ. Despite painful opposition, the church thrived and became more knit to one another. There was power in their words and grace upon their work.
