“For the Son of Man came not to be served,
but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” MARK 10.45

Christ calls us — his disciples — to a selfless mission. Working in Adventure Week is a good illustration of this. Thank you for stepping up to this task. Adventure was our top mission priority this summer. We needed you and you were here. If you weren’t next year, I trust you will be! This AW has been one of the best experiences of which I’ve been part. Others have felt and even said the same. What a praise! God is at work. Take a moment this Sunday to personally thank our Preschool and Children’s Ministry Leader Sandy Oravetz. AW is no easy task, but she has done it well. To say this is no understatement — she is a worthy gospel-driven worker.

Why is AW such an important week? Eighty percent of salvation decisions occur prior to age 18. The gospel seeds which you sowed this week are known only to heaven. In the days ahead we pray these seeds are watered, cultivated, and the God himself makes them grow. I have to share this praise with you. I asked if any of the children would share their spiritual testimony from the week. One boy’s moved us all. He told his mom was ready to admit that he was a sinner, believe Jesus, and confess and become a follower of Christ. That’s why we sacrifice.

Many of those who served are retired. Their example reminds me of Caleb who at age 85 said, “Give me this mountain,” and God did. God is not finished with your life. Keep serving. Keep telling. Most of all, keep loving. Why serve? Endure? Here’s why. “For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love which you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do,” Hebrews 6.10.

THIS SUNDAY MORNING

This Sunday we return to our Blind Spots Sermon Series. The Holy Spirit by the Word will expose our selfishness. We’ll also learn how to move beyond it. We don’t have to stay stuck in sin. Also, following worship, we’ll have a celebration of Adventure Week. The Block Party Trailer from the DBA will be here; we’ll need volunteers. We also need ‘warm’ bodies to laugh, listen, and learn about our visitors. Visitors begin to invest in the community when the community invests in them. To be a hospital for sinners for Flower Mound we must learn what makes FloMo laugh and cry. Will you join me? Because of this event and the expected temperatures I encourage you to dress comfortably. Wear your FMFB t-shirt. Don’t have one? Call the office; we’ll set one aside for you to pick up this Sunday. Check with Sandy O. how you can be invovled.

JOIN THE DISCUSSION

Explore God Small Group Outreach begins this Wednesday at 6.36p in Building B. We’ve prayerwalked and asked the Lord to send neighbors our way. There remains much work. How can you be invovled?  Pray, pray, pray. Prayer does not fit for us the greater work; it is the greater work. Stop now and do it. Please. Step up and be part. To be honest, our attendance at the prayerwalk this summer was sad to see. I would have liked more to take time and walk our neighborhood. You still can. Be part of the group. If the Lord wills, we shall need other facilitators. If you been through EG, now is the time for you to give what has been given to you (2 Timothy 2.2). Fair warning. Your pastor is praying more of us will be involved in church life on Wednesday nights in the fall. Serve in AWANA. Lead a discipleship or small group. Be present if nothing else. Take time to be holy, dear saints, is my heart-felt challenge to you.

SAVE A LIFE

Red Cross will have a Blood Drive in Fellowship Hall on July 30. You can click the link below to schedule your donation. Though you may not be able to donate for medical or personal reasons, you can still take part. We need friendly faces to welcome donors as they arrive, as they donate, and as they eat a snack at tables. You do not have to volunteer the entire time. We’ll need help throughout the day. The Red Cross motto is, “Donate blood. Give life.” Isn’t that what we do as ambassadors of the cross? Contact Jerry Cole with any questions.
