“Daniel answered the king and said, “No wise men, enchanters,
magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that
the king has asked, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries..”

DANIEL 4.27-28
Today I received the results from our recent Congregational Analysis from the SBTC.  Good news! Collectively, we see our church positively. Our greatest perceived strength was prayer and evangelism was a our noticeable weakness. The survey will serve as a baseline as we move forward with the revitalization project. You’ll be given more opportunities to complete them in the future. There is much work to be done.

The verse above describes the role and function of prophet. The Hebrew word for prophet is ‘nabi’ or ‘seer.’ Eli could no longer fulfill his role because his ‘eyes grew dim’ (1 Samuel 3.2).

I wanted to share what I see as move forward to join in what God is doing in Flower Mound, Texas.

I see a church who is a magnifying, maturing, multiplying body of believers. I see believers who exalt Christ in worship, who are equipped for Christ and his body, and who evangelize Christ to Flower Mound, North Texas, and beyond. I see worship at FMFB leading the faithful and faithless to an encounter with Jesus. It will be expositional, energetic, empowered, evangelistic, encouraging, enlightening, and expectant. I see leaders, laborers, and learners equipped to do the work of ministry. I see a body of Christ caring for one another, praying for one another, being patient with one another, stirring up one another, forgiving one another, bearing one another, laboring with one another, and loving one another. I see a church loving loud in Flower Mound by being the hands and feet of Christ in our streets and homes. I see every member as a missionary on his or her block and every home as a mission outpost of the gospel for sick sinners seeking refuge. That’s a glimpse of what I see.

A PLENTIFUL HARVEST ASSIGNMENT

The Lord has given us the task of launching another round of Explore God groups this summer. Four of us walked and prayed the homes near us. We interacted with people. We prayed for their hurts. We handed them personal invitations to attend. We’ll do it again this Wednesday. We need you to join us. We will gather in Room #B03 at 6.30p to pray and go out in groups. If this time is not convenient for you but you’d be willing to take invitations around contact the church office. Some of you may prefer to walk and pray earlier in the day or week. Whatever way we can sow seeds I’m in favor of you.

THE STATE OF THE SBC

The church is sending Lisa and I to the SBC in St. Louis next week. The SBC has more churches but fewer baptisms. A record amount of money was given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. You can pray for your pastor while we are away. Pray for insight as we make decisions as your messengers. Pray for inspiration as we hear messages from God’s Word. Pray for refreshment and renewal for the work ahead. I do not doubt my call to be your pastor. Ministry, though, can be challenging. We all grow weary. Pray for us as we pray for you. We love each of you as our family. In the days ahead Lisa, Duke and I look forward to inviting you into our home for intimate conversations regarding the future and vision of our church.

BE READY FOR WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY:
On a very personal note, let us show grace to one another as move forward as a body of Christ. None of us are perfect. None of us are finished products. Each of us is being made perfect in Christ. We still mess up and miss opportunities. Let us love one another as Christ loves us — without condition or expectation. Let us look to the interests of one another over and instead of our own interests as Christ did (Philippians 2.4). That’s my pledge to you. Will you pledge the same to one another and to your pastor?

Sent Together,
