Jesus Didn’t Quit

Have you ever left a movie theater and lingered over a scene? You replay it in your mind. It stirs something within you. It can be positive or negative.

Yesterday I was reflecting over Hebrews 12. It started as praise. Jesus is the Founder and Perfecter of our salvation. What incredible news! I needed that yesterday. I need it today. A little #MondayMotivation!

Yesterday our sermon title was, ‘When It’s Tough to Follow…’ It is sometimes. When it’s tough to follow Jesus this week, I will remember this. Jesus didn’t quit. I shouldn’t because he didn’t. And there were plenty of opportunities. Think for a moment. He is the founder. Salvation got its start with him. We are celebrating his coming. He is the perfecter. He brings salvation to the right conclusion. He defeated death, sin, and Satan. He delivered us from darkness to see the grace and truth of God. I have hope. Jesus didn’t quit.

During the holidays, my heart races back to fond memories. Thanksgiving and Christmas were usually spent in Quanah for us. After we passed through Chilicothe I would get excited. I saw lights in the distance. This always amazed me. The piney woods blocked our view in the northeastern part of the state. Those lights beckoned us forward. Their glow promised a warm greeting. Thankfully, we never stopped outside of Quanah with the tumbleweeds and prairie dogs. We finished our journey.

This Christmas you may not see lights in the distance. Just look to light of the world Jesus himself. Don’t stop when the nights are cold and perhaps lonely. Keep obeying and walking forward. We can’t because he didn’t. Remember that when it’s tough to follow.

Thanks to everyone for sharing our Candlelight Christmas invitations. Today I posted a ‘charming’ video invitation; so, share it as well. The more shares helps us to promote our service. Take a moment now and invite some folks!
