Voice from the Desert

This week we read Luke 3. Imagine hearing from a long lost family member after years of silence. For some those reunions are joyous. Others can be frightening and unsettling. God breaks the silence. He speaks to John in a way he had with other pre-Christian prophets of the OT.

Use these questions to read, reflect, and live out Luke 3 this week:

Luke 3.1-6
How does John fit into God’s timing?

Luke 3.7-9
What does John tell the ‘religious’ people of his day to do?

Luke 3.10-14
John’s response in verse 11 was to care for people who are less fortunate than we are. What are some ways that you care for people who are less fortunate?

Luke 3.15-22
What event marks the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry? How was this event the start to his work of redemption?

Luke 3.23-38
How does Jesus being a son of God and a son of man help Jesus to identify with the needs and problems of mankind?
