CHRIST & THE CROSS

You cannot encounter Christ and stay the same. Christ changes you. In Luke 23, Christ encounters a number of faces on the road to the cross. The zealots called him a criminal and the crowds cried, ‘Crucify him.’ Yet, the government pronounced him, ‘Not guilty,’ especially of death. He becomes a substitute for a seditious murderer. He vividly demonstrates how a disciple is to carry his cross. A thief and a soldier were moved by him while another thief closes his heart toward him. Luke 23 closes quietly with the devotion and dedication of a few soon-to-be witnesses of a revolution. The cross has the final word.
