“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” EPHESIANS 5.15-16
Paul encourages the Ephesian church to carefully inspect their daily choices, priorities, and activities. The term ‘walk’ is comprehensive of all of life. Wisdom is the fear of God. Worship is wise. As is outreach and mission. Generosity is. Everyday a choice greets us. Will this day be used for God’s kingdom or my desires? Choosing to please God over man is counter cultural. The Bible is current and relevant. Our days indeed are evil. The Orlando shooting. An upcoming, nasty political season. Children kidnapped and used as sexual slaves. A continual rejection of God’s plan for manhood and womanhood.
Where will your feet take you this summer? I encourage you to have fun under the Son as you enjoy times in the sun. Soccer camp is wrapping up here this week. We’ve seen guests and prospects join us. Last night we walked and prayed for our neighbors. On Monday, July 4th, we’ll hand out bottles of water at the Children’s Parade. Our church is on mission for the glory of God and the good of Flower Mound.
SUMMER ON MISSION
Where can you be on mission this summer with Flower Mound First Baptist? Volunteers to hand out water at the Children’s Parade are needed; see Ruth Mitzel. Adventure Week (VBS) will soon be here. There’s always room for another leader to love a child and make them feel significant. On Wednesday evenings I am leading a group to walk and pray in our neighborhood. We’re meeting and praying for our neighbors. On July 30th, our church is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive. We’ll need volunteers to help with more than donating blood; see Jerry Cole for more information.
REMEMBER TO GIVE THIS SUMMER
Summer is a time to play in sprinklers and dive into the refreshing water of pools. It’s filled with barbecues and fireworks. It’s often a vacation from the rat-race of life. Our summer is filled with activities as well. Remember the work continues even though you may be out of town. The internet offers a great tool to help us remain faithful in our giving to the Lord and his work. You can visit fmfb.church/give to give your tithes and offerings this summer. You can also give to the on-going “I Love My Church” offering and to Operation Christmas Child. I hope you will be all-in this summer and check-out this site.

The SBTC produced a great resource ‘I Will Pray.’ I encourage you to pick one up this weekend. Use it as a daily guide to pray for the on-going work at Flower Mound First Baptist. Sadly, too often Christians will talk with other Christians about what concerns them at church while never speaking to Christ himself. Begin there. Trust him to align your heart with his will for our church. C’mon on pick up one of these resources this Sunday! A praying church is a powerful church.
