Psalm 23 – Week 1
Psalm 23 has to be the favorite psalm of all, perhaps most famous of all biblical passages. Why do so many find such comfort and peace in these short verses? It’s been called the Shepherd Psalm because of the focus. David himself was the Shepherd-King of Israel. Yet, in humility he admits, ‘There is a greater Shepherd and I look to him.’ The good news is Jesus embodies this and is the Good Shepherd for his people. To understand Jesus even more you can look at these verses. The action of the first verses centers on the care of the shepherd. Take note of how intimate the shepherd acts toward his sheep.
