‘After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb’

REV 7.9

Last night I visited our kids at Pre-Teen Camp. What joy to sing & worship with them and even greater joy to see two of them take steps closer to Christ! Like you, I am thankful for Sandy, Clell, and Kenny for taking them. Take time when you see them next to express it.

Sitting there my heart was drawn back in time more than 25 years ago to Lakeview Baptist Assembly in Lone Star. In that humid, outdoor tabernacle I stepped forward and surrendered my life to God’s call. It’s good to reflect. It refuels us in the midst of frustration and confusion. God called me to Flower Mound First Baptist because I responded to him so many years ago. (By the way, take a look at my Facebook page. I posted the pic of that tabernacle.)

I am firmly convinced. FMFB was sovereignly placed at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Roads. Why? Because Flower Mound needs Jesus. So, when people ask you. Why did you change your sign? Because FM needs Jesus. Why does your pastor always say, ‘Flower Mound First Baptist?’ Why are you so committed to spirit and truth-filled worship? Why does the pastor talk so much about the Bible? Why do we need small groups that meet in homes at different times? Why do you talk about inviting people to come? Why do you talk about church being a ‘place we go from rather than come to?’ Why do we spend so much time talking about the ones not yet here? The next generation? Going on mission? The answer to these and more are simply put. Because FloMo needs Jesus.

The numberless multitude in heaven is the end result of mission. Imagine it. Saints down through the ages gathered before the throne. I promise no one will worthy if the robes of glory resemble shorts or suits. Jesus will receive the glory. And we’ll be able to look with great thankfulness and humility as we see the faces in the crowd, ‘Flower Mound First Baptist were fishermen for Jesus.’

FALL WILL BE IN THE AIR

Once the heat of August is behind us nights will turn crisp and leaves will fall. With fall comes a renewed emphasis for our church. Routines return to normal. Think back to our May First Team Rally with Dr Kenneth Priest. Our new sermon-based small groups will start in September. With the support of our deacons and other leaders, we’re moving forward with a trial run. It gives us the opportunity to expand and multiply our discipleship efforts. Small groups and sermons will strike with one strong note. Your pastor is asking for your support. It will be different. Remember change brings fruit. It will take a Christ-like spirit from leaders, laborers, and learners. I look forward to hearing your feedback along the way.

PRAY FOR ME AND I’LL PRAY FOR YOU

I want to share a resource with you. It’s called, ‘I Will Pray.’ We used it in our April House of Prayer Gathering. It helps you as you pray for yourself, others, church and pastor, nation and the lost. This tool is like a grocery list for your prayer time. You’ll see more answers because you’re praying specifically. In August we’ll hand them out to the entire body. Until then, can I ask you? Pray for me and I’ll pray for you. Our love for one another will abound and the unity of our body will be strengthened.

BE READY FOR WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY:

Has the Blind Spots sermon series been a blessing? Has the Holy Spirit exposed sin in your life? Have you experienced the grace of Christ in covering those sins? I would love to hear your testimonies. You can send your testimonies to dtittle@fbcfm.org. Blind Spots are insidious. The Spirit of God by the Word of God exposes these sins. I’d also like to extend a special invitation to Vespers this Sunday night at 5p. We want it to be a reflective time of worship and prayer. .
